ACHIEVEMENTS
The Dumaring Forest and River Collaborative Conservation Program provided technical assistance (mentoring, coaching, preparation) to the organization partners of local communities to participate in contests held by the provincial government as well as national government and won the awards. The achievements are as follows:
● LPHD Pangalima Jerrung won an award from East Kalimantan Provincial Government in the East Kalimantan Wana Lestari Competition 2021, as the best LPHD in East Kalimantan Province (from the total of 27 LPHDs in East Kalimantan Province; held by the East Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Office).
● LPHD Pangalima Jerrung won an award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in the National Wana Lestari Competition 2022 as the third-best LPHD in Indonesia (from the total of 1.323 LPHDs in Indonesia; held by the Directorate General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry).
● Dumaring Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMK Dumaring) won two awards from the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration in Nusantara Tourism Village Competition 2023 as the eighth-best Village-Owned Enterprise in Indonesia in managing tourism destination for developed/self-sufficient village category and the best Village-Owned Enterprise in Indonesia for tourism destination with environmental thematic (from 5.037 villages designated as Tourism Villages where the tourism destination is managed by the Village-Owned Enterprise; held by the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration).
● The arenga palm sugar produced by KUPS Juruh of LPHD Pangalima Jerrung won an award from the East Kalimantan Provincial Government in the East Kalimantan Village Award 2023 as the fourth-best village prime product in East Kalimantan Province (from 1,038 villages and wards -841 villages and 197 wards- in East Kalimantan Province) (held by the Community Empowerment and Village Development Office of East Kalimantan Provincial Government)
In addition to the achievements in the competitions at national and provincial levels, Dumaring Village has also been recognized by other local community groups as well as government institutions from other provinces in Indonesia or regencies in East Kalimantan Timur as a learning site for village forest management and protection as well as community enterprise development, which includes:
● The Environment and Forestry Office of Riau Province (the Forestry Office Chief himself with 11 Forest Management Unit Chiefs throughout the Riau Province and eight staffs), to learn about integrating social forestry scheme with forest conservation program, collaboration development in forest conservation and village development, particularly in roles sharing amongst the Forest Management Unit (KPH), local community, village government and forest conservation program, and community enterprise development through social forestry scheme (2022).
● The local community of Teluk Sumbang Village, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan Province (the Village Chief, community leaders, youth activists), to learn about the requirements and steps for obtaining the social forestry permit (with a particular focus on village forest) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, community institutional development, collaboration development amongst the Forest Management Unit (KPH), local community, village government and forest conservation program, and community enterprise development through KUPS (2022).
